Using apprenticeships and work placements to support faster labour market integration of adult asylum seekers and refugees

Language: English

Country: Greece

This paper published by Cedefop describes the summary of roundtable discussions that took place in 2015 in Thessaloniki. The main aim was to discuss how apprenticeships and work placements could promote social and labour market integration of people with migrant or refugee background. For the integration of women, best practices from different European countries are described. Among them are mentoring schemes, part-time apprenticeships for young mothers or training of people with permanent residence status, to operate as trainers and mentors. The paper highlights the importance of a special focus on migrant women’ integration e.g. though counselling, and mentoring for young migrant women.
