17+ Youth Career Orientation

The project addressed young asylum seekers and recognized refugees over 17 years old with the vision to provide them with the knowledge and skills needed in order to be self-reliant and able to communicate in greek language with a final goal to enter the greek labor market. The project offered 240 hours of training on Greek as a second language (2 classes for 25 youngsters each x 120 hours) by specialized trainers combined with vocational orientation sessions (5 groups of 15 youngsters) complemented by training in soft skills through experiential techniques by specialized career guidance counselors. The goal was for the participants to gain the needed knowledge to aid them in their integration process in the Greek reality according to their needs: for some of them the aim was to aid them with the basic language knowledge to proceed in the public education system, for some other the aim was to gain basic language knowledge to be able to communicate in Greek and achieve a basic level of autonomy, for all of them the aim was to have an understanding of the labor market and for each one to have a short term and a long term goal.
